Tsuguoki (Aki) Fujinuma and Robert Glauber, vice chairs of the Trustees, said:

“Tommaso was one of the most influential and highly regarded figures in international finance of his generation and made an enormous contribution to the IFRS Foundation in his all-too-brief time as chair. All those who were fortunate enough to have benefitted from his immense wisdom, cheerful good humour and unflinching integrity will sorely miss him. Our thoughts and those of our fellow Trustees are with his family and friends at this grievous time.”

Sir David Tweedie, Chairman of the IASB, said:

“Tommaso possessed a rare combination of intellect and vision, delivered with a wry smile. He was a friend and colleague and will be missed by many, many people. I am greatly saddened by this news. On behalf of the IASB and the staff of the Foundation, we send our sincere condolences to his family.”

Tom Seidenstein, Chief Operating Officer of the IFRS Foundation, said:

“Tommaso had already made an enormous mark on the organisation and had a positive influence on all who came in touch with him. I am deeply saddened to have lost a mentor and offer my deepest sympathies to his family.”
