The present grievance of the petitioner is that without considering pendency of the appeals, demand notice has been issued and steps for attachment of the Bank account was initiated. The second respondent is directed to consider pass orders on appeals at the earliest possible. Till such time orders are passed, the recovery steps now initiated pursuant to notices shall be kept in abeyance.

The question raised is whether an institution with charity and religion as objects is entitled to income-tax exemption. We have taken the view that if charitable and religious purposes independently enjoy income tax exemption, those with combination of objects are also entitled to exemption.
